The Challenge: A Single Digital Channel Without Replacing the City’s Systems

The City of Santa Fe provides its residents with essential services such as administrative procedures, tax management, driver’s licenses, courses, and institutional communications, among others. To streamline citizen services and communication channels, it needed a single channel where residents could handle their procedures on their own.

The challenge was to achieve this without replacing the internal systems that already supported its operations. The digital solution had to integrate with them, validate each user’s identity, and run on the city’s own infrastructure.

The Solution: App Santa Fe, an Application Integrated with Existing Systems

Together with the Municipality of Santa Fe , Crombie developed App Santa Fe, a web and mobile application that centralizes appointments, payments, procedures, courses, and alerts. The app was connected to the city’s internal systems through web services. This allowed the city to add a digital channel without migrating or replacing what was already working.

We designed a modular architecture, with each component containerized and deployed on the city’s on-premise server. This made it possible to add new modules progressively. We also developed a back office so that each department can manage its own appointments, courses, surveys, and communications.

Yes. A municipal app can connect to the systems the city already uses through APIs or web services, without migrating data or redesigning its core management system. With a modular architecture, digitalization moves forward in stages: you start with the most in-demand services, such as appointments or payments, and add new modules without putting operations at risk.
